Archived CONSULTANT EXPERT IN CLIMATE CHANGE AND HEALTH
ITPC WA is receiving funding from SANOFI to implement its RELIC Santé project in 10 health districts in Côte d'Ivoire. This project aims to improve community health by reducing the incidence of sensitive diseases (malaria, diarrheal diseases, respiratory diseases, etc.) to climate change by June 2026. In its operational phase, this project will rely primarily on community-based organizations (CBOs), and will make it possible to: (i) strengthen the community surveillance and response system for diseases sensitive to climate change (ii) strengthen communication for social and behavioral change with a view to adopting a citizen's conscience of improving community health (iii) strengthen citizen commitment to the promotion, protection and sanitation of the environment to ensure the fight against diseases sensitive to climate change. It is in this context that ITPC WA is recruiting an expert consultant on the theme of climate change and its effects on community health.
MAIN TASKS
- Strengthen the capacities of the ITPC-WA technical team to ensure a transfer of skills on the theme to the organization;
- Review and strengthen the project's intervention strategies;
- Develop project implementation tools;
- Provide overall technical support to project stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of activities and achievement of objectives;
- Contribute to the production of project deliverables.
CONDITIONS AND DURATION
The consultant must be available to respond to emergencies related to the implementation of the project, and be prepared to work in the areas where the interventions are being implemented, if necessary.
The expert consultant will provide support to ITPC-WA for 8 days a month, with at least 50% of the time on site.
The duration of the support requested is 3 months, renewable depending on the consultant's satisfaction with the organization's implementation of the project.
EXPERT PROFILE
- At least a Master's degree in climatology, public health or any other related field; with knowledge of diseases related to climate change;
- Have a minimum of three (3) years' experience working on policies and/or managing projects and programs on climate change and its effects on community health.
- Excellent technical and analytical skills and proven experience in operational work on climate change, climate-related diseases and climate finance issues.
- Knowledge of climate change and its impact on green growth;
- Experience in integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation measures into development interventions in Côte d'Ivoire, involving climate change and disease issues;
- Experience in researching and writing the technical content of project proposals to climate funds or similar multilateral funds.
- Experience in working with communities, particularly in the collection, analysis and interpretation of community data;
- Experience in capacity building on climate change issues and climate-sensitive diseases.
- Experience of working with stakeholders, including bilateral cooperation partners, donor countries and governmental organizations, as well as regional organizations on climate change issues;
- Experience of working in a team, and be a persuasive communicator with excellent writing skills;
- Proficiency in the use of standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
